You’ve been here for quite a while – you just showed up on the doorstep one day, unannounced, full suitcases. You stayed despite my best efforts at protest & distraction.
I admit that sometimes I see you as a friend because you teach me strength and courage and patience that I wouldn’t learn without you, but I admit that at other times I see you as an enemy . . . because it hurts. And I’m tired of you.
Since I can’t make you leave, I’ve decided I’m going to write you some letters so that I can tell you more about how I feel and what it’s like to live with you.
I’m hoping maybe this will help our relationship.
Oh, and please stop leaving dirty dishes in the Living Room.
